Apple Pie (Vegan)

Apple Pie (Vegan)

Prep time:
15 minutes

Cooking time:
45 minutes

Yields:
8 people

Ingredients:

6 cups sliced apples (I used a combo of Jonathan, Golden Delicious and Jonagold)

1 cup sucanat (or regular sugar)

2 1/2 Tablespoons whole wheat pastry flour (or flour of choice)

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon mace (secret ingredient!)

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

2 Tablespoons butter

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Peal, core and slice apples. In a separate bowl, mix sucanat, flour, cinnamon, salt, mace and nutmeg. Then pour on top of sliced apples and mix thoroughly.

Pour apple mixture into pie crust and dot top with butter.

Add the top pastry and bake for 45 minutes, until crust is a golden brown.

Notes:

Allow to set before slicing.

The flour could easily be replaced with a gluten-free flour.
